SFW 2026 THEME OF THE YEAR

Theme of the Year: RESISTANCE

This year's theme invites people to challenge the current fashion system and imagine a better future. Resistance means: resisting overconsumption, resisting fast fashion, resisting waste, supporting independent businesses, strengthening local communities, repairing instead of replacing, sharing skills and knowledge, making conscious purchasing decisions, and building an alternative fashion economy.

What Resistance Means at Torquay 2026: Resisting fast fashion, reducing textile waste, supporting Devon independent artisans, repairing instead of throwing away, and building a community circular economy.

About the Hub

A community event about keeping clothes in use for longer.

Who we are

Sustainable Fashion Week Hub Torquay is Hosted by Minycled Ltd and as part of the national Sustainable Fashion Week movement, organised by A Single Thread.
It’s a friendly two-day event where people can learn repair and upcycling skills, meet local
makers, and see what’s possible when clothes are reused instead of thrown away.

It’s built on people helping each other, not on selling for its own sake. Makers keep every
penny they earn, and the weekend is open to anyone who wants to come.

This year’s theme

RESISTANCE.

This year’s theme asks people to challenge the current fashion system and imagine a better one:
resisting overconsumption, fast fashion and waste, while supporting independent businesses,
repairing instead of replacing, and making thoughtful choices about what we buy.
